Cock Valves

A cock is a quarter turn valve in which a tapered or parallel plug turns within the body to line a port up with the bore. The action is simple, fast and easy to see: the lever position tells you the state of the valve at a glance, which is why cocks remain the standard fitting for sounding, gauge and sampling connections where an operator needs certainty rather than fine control.

Bodies here are bronze and gunmetal, which suit seawater and the standing conditions of a sounding or gauge line, in sizes around DN32 to DN65 at PN25. The lever arrangement varies by duty, with stop and turning patterns used where the plug must be indexed to a fixed position rather than left anywhere in its travel.

Cocks are on and off devices and are not intended for throttling: a partially turned plug wears the seating faces and can jam. When specifying, confirm the bore, the pressure rating, the medium and the lever arrangement, and state whether the connection is threaded or flanged.
